In Australia the iPhone is spruiked by ALL carriers... and is not locked in to a contract... this has helped propel the hand set to a 400+ percent increase in market share and sell over 2 million hand sets...

Ethnicity doesn't say anything other than the color of the persons skin. However, intelligence and stuff are things that actually can affect wether you are qualified or not. Two quite different things, if you ask me.
Except race has been shown to have an effect on intelligence. Ashkenazi Jews are about 1SD above whites, on average (average IQ 100, SD = 15). Blacks typically fare about 1SD lower than whites.

Get rid of the red background color! A lot of widgets use red, at least the ones I have (same for blue). Use as a background your avatar, that would be cool, with the same red letters of the lines!

What iPad user can't figure out how to use iTunes to sync the thing? My 65-year old mother figured out how to sync her iPod classic. How is iPad syncing any different or more complicated than what people have been doing for a decade? iPad does not require a tech genius - or 12 year old kid - to keep it working.It's not about figuring it out. It's about having a computer period. A normal person doesn't own multiple computers. He owns a computer. He might not even have bought it himself, and certainly won't maintain multiple computers (nor will the person who gifted the computer). So once the tablet is the normal person's computer, it's going to be the only one he's using. Telling him he needs a second computer just to use his primary computer is unacceptable.
Example: My mom has a computer. It was a Christmas present from me one year. But now it's old, full of crap, and needs replacing. But instead of upgrading it, I got her an iPad. It meets all her computer needs (except printing). That old clunker is in no shape to run iTunes; it's hard drive isn't even as large as the iPad's! I certainly won't be upgrading her desktop just to let her sync her iPad, nor will she when she's happy using just the iPad. She gets updates on the occasions that I visit with my MBP.
The system works well enough; her iPad is her sole computer. But it requires that I, the tech relative, keep it updated.

Laptops just aren't the typical gift. They are in the wrong price range.
What? Maybe to buy for your cousin, but many parents get their children computers for Christmas. A MacBook is a great gift for a teen-aged child.

I find my Samsung NC10 really very usefull indeed - I love using it. It's done all sorts of things no other machine could really do (like be powered off a car battery in the middle of a field with a USB capture card being fed by an IR camera that was pointing at a dog trap to try and find a lost dog, uploading images via 3G to the web and automatically emailing me when things changed in the F.O.V )

It's a LOT better than any touchpad typing. a LOT LOT better. It's not as good as a full sized keyboard, but it's good enough for most of the things most people do most of the time.
3. larger screen? maybe by an inch or so. past that, it's no longer a netbook, it's a laptop.

Chomping at the bit to be at Stonebriar, can't leave here til 4!
My parents just got there, my mom is awesome (swap out with her once I get there). My dad said that they were around 20-25 in line, and within 30 minutes there are now 25 people behind them...so 50 people total (rough estimate.) So I am not sure but I am guessing that line to be over 100+ people around 1ish....I am shocked so many people are there so soon. Maybe its just me though....maybe this is normal....

This is a TERRIBLE idea for the following reasons:
1. You would need to have ever car fitted with the equivalent of an electronic toll collection system so we have can verified computation of miles traveled. Talk about serious privacy implications, to say the least.
2. The cost of implementing such a system would be exorbitantly expensive.
In my opinion, if you want to cut down on fuel consumption, just impose an excise tax based on engine displacement and physical size of vehicle like they do in Europe and Japan. That way, it would discourage people from buying bigger fuel-guzzling vehicles in the first place. I mean, would you buy a BMW 750iL if you're going to be hit with a 20% excise tax on top of the price of the car?
And I thought you were all about fiscal responsibility? Why is it wrong to tax those who use the roads the most?

"Save a few fighter jets"? You mean the billions of dollars that could be better spent on more important things, such as healthcare? Billions. And apparently, the numbers that the Conservatives are giving as the cost are way below what the actual cost will be.
I need to add that the other reason that people voted Conservative is because they had little confidence in Ignatief. This was due to a number of factors, which include his own doing and the smear campaign that was run against him.
I think that if a better leader would have been running the Liberals, they would have done much better.
He came off as an academic elitist with no grounding with the people. Glad to see he has retired where he belongs: out of politics and in academia.

Somehow I was expecting to see a lot more praise and excitement for the 3DS after it launched....
The 3D effect seems to trigger mixed reactions. Other than that...there really doesn't seem to be anything truly exciting about it? I don't see any "wow, those graphics!!" or "holy cow, this thing is fast/powerful" type comments.
The general vibe I am getting from here and other places is more like "pretty neat", rather than "wow, so awesome". :confused:

I like the 3D effect. It feels like you're looking into a box, instead of at a screen. Headaches, losing the sweet spot, etc, are a non-factor for me. And what they did with the AR is pretty awesome.
But no killer game. Which makes it a revolutionary piece of hardware that barely has anything to show off what it can do.

I agree that you're taxing the wrong thing. If you tax mileage rather than gas, you're not encouraging higher fuel economy the same way a gas tax would. The ones who burn more fuel should brunt the burden. It's a lot easier to get a more fuel efficient vehicle than it is to make your necessary commute shorter.

Ah, right. In the developer site there is an implication that the server version would be separate. But I'm still expecting some sort of gimmick. With the Mac Store one could end up paying for each little feature as an option.
