I need some serious help with my D50 equipment. I have no experience at all with SLR cameras, and have recently bought a bundle consisting of a Nikon D50 and a Nikon 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED AF-S Dxlens. Now I am interested in buying another lens (The Nikon 70-300mm f/4-5.6 AF Zoom Lens) in hope that these two lenses would suit my needs in amateur photography. I intend to photo landscapes, portraits and some ''macro'' (flowers and some insects). So, I would like to know if these lenses are an acceptable choice, having in mind that I can't afford to buy some expensive lenses, as my average monthly salary almost amounts to the price of these cheap ones. I have still 7 months left over on my 6 year term and they have asked for 3 year extension based on the approved I-140.I'm talking to my company right now and will talk to the lawyer once they receive the denial reason which they should get in 2 -3 days.But my company is ready to appeal.Keeping all this in view if they file for an appeal for what ever reason and based on my visa expirt date which is on 31'Mar 2009 how long will I get to stay and work legally to hear the answer for the appeal??

My corporate attorney told me that one is okay as long as one doesn't sya beyond 180 days from expiry without applying for a renewal, so you have 6 months to apply.
Better check with an attorney, but I am sure you are just fine.
Also, we had a 'nunc-pro-tunk' situation, but that kicks in only after 180 days , so I told.

Thanks to share ur experience and knowledge.
Frankly speaking we are interested in utilising time effectively, rather than studying hard to get a MS. On the basis of her health grounds, she cannot attend the college.
Regarding fees, smaller college fees is around 6k, where as big name colleges around 13k,
smaller colleges are easy to get results.
We wanted to utilise OPT in the future, so we may have to incline towards F1!!!

i would say apply for the Eb2. I am on Eb3 right now and i will plan to apply for eb2 after Dec 2008.
I have 3 years degree (15 year education). I am not sure if I can file on EB2.
You have filed on EB3 & planning to file on EB2; could you please share the logic for this & why are you waiting end of 2008, please share the reason, so if needed I can also plan something like you.

Has anyone else come accross this problem? I wanted to remitt funds to India and when I logged in to SBI GLS web site I got the following message:
Due to regulations applicable in your state of residence in USA, we regret that, at present, we are unable to continue offering SBI Express Remit - US (our product using direct debit facility through ACH) till further notice.
We are engaged in meeting the state's current regulatory requirements, and it will be our endeavor to restore to you at the earliest the convenience you have been enjoying. Meanwhile, you may use the aid of Rapid Remittance (Web-assistance for tracking wire transfers) when you use wire transfer from your bank to send funds to your beneficiary accounts in India.

Also my birth certificate(English version too) was send along with I-485 app. So I hope that does now show up.

The Labor is of no use to you, except to feel secure that they indeed applied for your Labor. But since you have already applied for your 485 and have an RD, it is obvious there was a labor and that is all you really need.
Since you have already applied for 485, a 140 copy would be pretty much useless too. I would not sweat it out.
For AC21, it is better to have a 485 receipt copy. Make sure you get that. You will also need it if you travel outside the US before your AP arrives.

I do not know authoritatively if this is so. But logically speaking, I see no reason why not. Asking a CPA is probably the best way to go if you really want to do it only the withholding route. Many times a CPA will give you this advice free of cost. Also you can ask the tax guy at bankrate.com or some other online source where some tax expert answers questions.
The way I see it, as far as IRS is concerned, by the deadline dates, they expect to receive the right amounts of money. Withholding is one way, estimated taxes is another.
Also, one thing I forgot to mention in my previous post, make sure you also pay for her social security, medicare and state tax.
Social security is 12.X % and medicare is 1.5% (please verify from authoritative source), so setting aside 14% for this is a safe thing to do.
CA state tax is 9.3 % (again please verify because this varies based on your combined income)
As we file our taxes jointly and hence instead of making advance payments/estimated tax payments quarterly, cant I just have my employer(w2 based) withhold more money from my paycheck every month?

I will tell my story, if this help.
I laid-off after working 7 years with big company on March end. I am already 8th year of H1B. Company notified to USCIS and revoked the H1B, etc per company policy. I do have copy of LCA/I140, etc.
I got another job(contract) with some employer. New company lawyer applied for H1B transfer(because old company revoked stuff so to be safe side). Law firm asked ONLY copy of my I-485 Receipt Notice. I think, Attorney changed the sponsorship with H1 transfer(i.e. invoked AC21 with H1 transfer). I didn't get H1 approval so far.
To give more twist: My PD(July 2001) is current per March VB but USCIS will take addtional 90 days to assign my case to Officer. Now contest is on. Let's see if my contract will finish first or GC process. :) :D USCIS already beat me once. USCIS 1 - Me 0 :)

3) Since H1 extension is based on my green card application, to do a transfer or renewal, copies of I140 and labor is required (according to company B's lawyer)
4) So in this case i'm forced to use EAD and company B's lawyer are evaluating if old and new job description are same or similar...
so now my question is, is it true that transfer/renew of H1 after 6 years without the copy of I140 or labor from employer other than the one filed for your green card, not allowed? is there anything that can be done in this case?

thanks for your reply. now EB3 Priority dates are gone back to 2001. say there is no visa numbers available after the 485 applications processed which are submitted in july and aug 2007. then waht they do? they have to keep the processed applications aside untill the visa numbers available right? so at that time which one become priority is Labour filing date or 485 RD?
