I figured this out last night poking around in System Profiler on the new Mac Mini display unit in the local Apple Store. There was a new, separate entry for "Card Reader" that I hadn't seen before. Lo and behold, there it was, "SDXC", supporting 2.5GT/s (that's 2.5Gbps before taking into account the all the data transfer protocol overhead).
Doing some more poking, I found in the Ethernet section the fact that the new Minis use a Broadcom BCM57765 (http://www.broadcom.com/products/Ethernet-Controllers/Enterprise-Client/BCM57765) controllerwhich just happens to also include the memory card reader controller, which supports SDXC.

Is it possible to find out what company is hosting a website?
My family's business website was built years ago, and then neglected. They still own the domain, and the site is still up.
They want to rebuild the site now, but after two office moves, can't find any of the records of who is hosting the thing.
Is there any way to find out?
Here is the site, if it helps:

No it won't convert the PC fanboys or the increasingly popular 'I can be offended quicker than you can' crowd but I really doubt those are the target audience. The ads are humorous and hit exactly the kind of audience from which 'switchers' come from - those dissatisfied with their PC experience.
Apple isn't trying to take over the entire computer market - way too many people you wouldn't want as customers in that crowd. Just getting the kind that do find the commercials humorous and 'on the mark' with the added controversy the commercials themselves spawn is probably more than enough. Look at this thread - if I'd were leaning towards Macs and ran into the PC sourpusses here I'd get one just to provoke them further. Humorless people need to be taunted and provoked at every opportunity - they will either grow or explode, both steps up.

Two questions:
1) Is that an iPad on the table?
2) Who paid for the coffee? :D
-Kevin
I was wondering if that was an iPad on the table too. Only other thing I think it could be was the bill, but for just coffee? Probably was an iPad!
""They're going to see it all eventually so who cares how they get it." Which seemed to be about web content, said the tipster."
How can that be interpreted about web content ?
How can it NOT be? Maybe not web, but it was obviously about content I would say!
Now thats a publicity stunt if ever I saw one!
Ya, actually one of the first things that popped into my mind about this is that it was planned to help both companies images and relationship seem better in the press!
He rich, yet he wears the same thing every day?
He's very into simplicity and minimalism, just look at the way apple products are designed. I think its a conscious choice to wear a simple black turtleneck and jeans, even though he could easily afford any clothes he wanted.
Yes, it is a conscious decision on Steve's part. Kind of cool if you think about it. Not my cup of tea though haha :D Honestly, it seems weird whenever I see Steve dressed in anything BUT the black turtle neck and blue jeans with his New Balance sneakers lol!

Bought one last night, no game. Tried the display model at Fry's and the 3D hurt my eyes but when I brought it home my eyes were fine. I think the ambient light and angle have a lot to do with whether or not you get headaches.
The 3D camera is low res but a cool novelty. I was snapping random crap around my apartment.
The built in AR stuff is cool as well. I basically stuck a card on the counter and the game made some boxes appear on my counter. It then started doing things like making the counter look like it was warping and then made a dragon pop out which I was supposed to kill. I was surprised how well the gyroscope works - much better than the iPhone's. I also thought Face Raiders would be dumb and it was but it was also kinda fun, watching my kitchen wall explode into fragments.
I'm all for new experiences and the 3D and AR offer that. Now they just need to drop some better games.

OK, following on from my previous message... My 'issue' got 'escalated' and I spoke to someone higher up the AppleCare pecking order (a Frenchman). He said that there might be a problem with this firmware update and my machine's specs [my speculation - the brand of SuperDrive (Sony DW-D150A)? my processor (dual 3GHz)?]. He 'felt sure that I wouldn't be the only person worldwide having this problem' (didn't tell him about this thread or a similar one on Apple's own forums), and will get back to me within 48 hours having spoken to Apple Engineering to see if his theory holds true. Time will tell!

NO? cos that would make it a MBP
Apart from the backlit keyboard, choice of screen (which is also larger), aluminium casing, expresscard.
Some aren't that convinced that it's worth the extra coin though, and I can empathise with that view too.

Just buy a Slingbox and watch any channel you want, anywhere you want.
Absolutely, I have a sling box and use it for both my iPhone and iPad.
It works great, I've been very happy with it, the App that makes it work on iPad/iPhone works great as well!:D:apple:

I am not saying no one should produce children. I am just saying its not the job of the government to make sure people are only cranking out units when they are "ready". Its called personal responsibility. If you get knocked up, deal with it. It's usually your own fault. Maybe your parents should have taught you to keep your pants on. It's not up the the government to teach you these things.
So what about pap smears, cancer detection, HPV detection, STD testing and immunization, sex education, and all the other things that don't have to do with popping out units that the GOP will also be killing?
Maybe we should also tell women that in the name of personal responsibility, they need to learn how to detect cervical cancer their own damn self. Maybe we should also tell a guy with Chlamydia that he should buy a chemistry set and invent his own damn cure.

Has apple ever officially responded to any false marketing claims they may have accidentally stated? For example - them stating their macbook pro battery life lasts X amount of time, however it really lasts X -3 hours.. and they've responded in an official capacity?
Battery life isn't really anything you can debate, as it largely depends on use, brightness and so many other variables. That's why Apple says "up to x hours".
What other false marketing are you referring to? There has been some in the past, but I can't recall anything recent.

Gotta love the old dinosaurs, they never want to adapt to new technologies...
Who cares if its being shown on a TV or an iPad? Obviously the iPad app owner must be a cable subscriber to view the content, so its paid for.
Not only that but it's as-if they are completely unaware that Slingbox has been around for years. I get they may not want people to be able to "double dip" but the Slingbox apps prevent that so no reason TWCs can't as well.
2011. People are still watching TV? Scary.
2011. People are still wasting their time leaving snarky non-sequitur comments on web forums to prove to themselves they are a superior being? Scary.

... to apease old school folks like yourself. It's off by default. OSX has always been about not having to think about managing the OS and focusing on being productive, creative and enjoying the purpose of the computer. Letting the OS manage system resources is the next logical step.
Apps don't need to be running if they're not being used. If the OS saves all work and opening an app is nearly instantaneous, then there is no difference between a running app or a closed app running some services in the background.
Nonetheless, the ability to turn the lights back on is a temporary transitional ability. It will no doubt be gone in the OS after Lion and only few people clinging to the past will look to turn them on.Until all applications support this new feature we may be in for a bumpy ride. Especially when users expect their current applications to behave the new way. Much like the heart ache we saw with the iOS 3 to 4 transition.

Wow, hadn't even thought about that... That would be so nice. :o
Very good idea!!! The only problem is speed, Apple SD readers are quite fast but only some high end SD reach good speeds.

I just updated to 4.3.2 yesterday. Since this afternoon, my phone does not have any cellular data connection, except for wi-fi. I have checked all the settings and everything is correct. I have even tried to restore the settings and restore the phone. But it still stays the same. :(
Does anyone have the similar problem before? Could this be the hardware problem?
No "3G" or "E" or "o" icons anymore. This is singaporean network btw.

Apple has to at least match the toughbook for harsher climates and conditions:
http://www.panasonic.com/business/Toughbook/toughbook-products.asp
The military and the Army has had a "dialogue" with Apple for years... pretty much every project involving a piece of field equipment has gone to another manufacturer because of durability concerns.

My question though is how is this any different then having multiple TVs on your cable account? You can only watch TV on your account when your in your own home and on your own WiFi. Time warner took some pretty big steps to make sure you can't "steal" cable... It is a pretty secure app.
I am just wondering why Viacom and others are bitching? Its just like going in the other room and watching it on the other TV... Doesn't allow you to watch TV away from home..
iPad is not Nielsen enabled. if people use the iPad app then the content owners don't know who's watching what and they can't scam more money out of the cable companies every few years.
the way the business is set up is revenues from cable customers and adds based on nielsen numbers

Yes, it also supports other standards.
what a joke. firewall guys, we want email on our phones. we need to open the firewall on a few more ports
exchange is database based which makes it easier and cheaper to manage it
That makes little sense whatsoever.
the base product is free but once you start buying add ons like archiving it's a lot more expensive than exchange. and other features that require MS outlook, contacts sync and iphone/mobile are not free. major fail and will cost just as much if not more than MS exchange once you compare apple's to apples
VMWare don't sell addons or a base product. They have an OSE edition to meet the GPL requirements and paid versions. Zimlets are created by the community.
Even with the full VMWAre Appliance or Collaboration edition its still cheaper than exchange.

Don't be so ignorant.
Don't be so offensive. You certainly don't know me well enough to make a determination of ignorance, making your personal attack, well . . . ignorant. My opinion is valid, and, as compared to ignorance, formed by the use of both products (in the same fashion CR used to make their similar determination). So then tell me, after direct comparison of the two, what attributes of the Xoom did you find superior?

Do these companies really want people to pay for the same content twice? Surely they can't realistically expect to a get premium for viewing in the same location but just through a different medium?
Of course they do!!!!!
Its the same with music companies who feel that if you want to listen to your purchased music at home and then anywhere else you should pay twice.

this is silly, youve grown acustome to windows thats all, cant you see that? things feel different on the mac. yet you made your decision based on an hour of poking around on the mac? thats really not a fair comparision.
havent you ever had a favorite application that you used all the time. then, you came across another app that did the same thing but differently and you hated it the first time you used it? yet after learning the new app you realized it was better?
im shaking my head that you couldnt see that it was your comfort with windows that threw you off. but hey, the windows is just fine im sure, so no worries.
