Correct me if I my understanding is wrong. We legals are not getting any action because law makers want to do a comprehensive reform instead of a piece meal legislations. If the CIR is not a possibility, is there not a good chance to push for reforms for legals on a piece meal basis ? Stuff like visa recapture, removing country cap, filing for 485 when dates are not current and all ?

Unfortunately, legal immigration doesnot have any representation in the senate to work for our interests.

another reason to get a GC. although, toys r us reversed their decision, the whole incident kinda left a bad taste in the immigrant community. heck, they didn't ask for my GC when i bought toys in their store then why would they even bother about "citizenship" in their new year promotion. good thing they reversed it.

Yes, same thing happened to me also. My nephew who applied got OCI but when I applied for my daughter the application was rejected and sent back. I then got PIO.
Per the rules to get OCI at least 1 of the parents nationality has to be non Indian. The logic is that if both parents are Indians even if kid is born in US and travels on US passport as kid they have until the age of 18 to choose.

2001-2003 another fellowship- needed special permission from ECFMG
2003 started a waiver job and I'm still in the same job in my 4th year.
Good job in a very nice metropolitan area.
Home residency requirement is 2 years
The new Conrad law is certainly better and should make things somewhat easier.

The reason I ask is, my wife is on h1b and is currently in her 1st year residency (IM) and wants to do a fellowship, so the fellowship must be done on a h1b only I guess and h1b is only for 6 years unless the organization files for GC and get extensions. In general how are fellowships on h1b or J1? As such residency on h1b is extremely in recent times so I guess same is with fellowship.

You got to ignore some of these statuses from certain IOs. I went for infopass end of may and I was told namecheck is pending. you can renew your DL by showing a copy of H1 receipt and letter from employer regd employment. DL office clerks dont know this so your lawyer might have to call their supervisor. take your 140 along as well, actually all the documents.

I dont feel that its a cosmetic change, while I agree that it can lead to some confusion. But there are orgs which have done it succesfully in the past. I thought it might give a better chance for us to give every one an idea abt what we are doing without getting on here or not coming her on to the website thingking "yet another org working for illegals"
I agree that the paperwork that needs to be done might be a lot. Our presence is predominantly on the website. I mean no offices etc.. Redirecting requests on the web aint a big deal. People who go to IV will be redirected to LIV. I am not trying to take over and drive in a new direction. As I said, this might not be the exact need of the hour with congress in session. Core members can discuss this when they feel its pertinent.

On the same lines, one of my relative was also denied entry into the US at the Mineapolis airport. She is a widow, 70 years of age, and used to come here to visit her only son and daughter-in-law and their son, since last 6 years. She used to stay for 6 months during the summer time (April to Oct.) and then 6 months in India. But this time when she came here they denied her entry suggesting that you have a pattern of staying here since last 6-7 years at the same time of the year, so you are doing something illegal!!!!......
Now how can one explain this???....70 years of age, a widow and her only son and daughter-in-law earning together earning atleast 6 figure income, a house of their own.....never went out of status, never extendend her stay beyond 6 months.......doing something illegal? and that too they said that they 'suspect'!....no proof whatsoever.....but according to law, she had to go back....this sucks big big time.

I received a RFE on experience letters (EB3). I have searched everywhere but haven't found the format for a winning experience letter.
Can someone with an approved 140 please paste a format of the experience letter on this thread?

I'd worked for multiple employers prior to filing labor. Each employer experience letter is of different format. Only think you need to make sure, the letter reflect is the period you worked for the company, you role/title in the company, and the technologies you were working on. In some case, you might have the salary mentioned too. There is no such thing as a format, and each company has its own. If you had worked for one of the larger organization, you might get only on the standard format as per the company guidelines. You can have an additional, notarised letter from a co-worker or your previous manager.. along with the letter from your previous employer, if you are not able to get in a specific format. I'm not sure on the letters to submit in case of a RFE.. but in general this works.
