No, you said (above) that men would "stop the sexual assaults".

Yes, men should stop. And to prevent sexual assault women should dress in a classy way. I hope you're getting my point.

To quote someone else in this thread "show me proof", in terms of actual statements given under duress and the results of that information. Until you or I see that we are both really just hand-waving...

indeed, but if those in favor of EI can't actually show some support for the claim that it's actually useful, then it seems to me the argument in favor is reduced to one that's basically an emotional response. That doesn't seem to me to be enough to justify using EI

....As for the guy in the video, he's really the only one out there that I have seen that is so vocal about the ineffectiveness of E.I.....

I don't think that's true at all. During the Bush years there were quite a number of people from the intelligence community that said the same thing. There comments were the usual basis for responses to "show me proof" to refute the idea that EI is useful

I think the free 38 character engraving is one of the things that makes this product so special. Buying one without it seems to devalue it's significance to me.

Examples of cool engravings would be:

    Reward 4 Return 555.555.6789 Taylor B.
    Frank Ford 555.555.6789 Please Return
Always in my thoughts. Love, Fred
Always in my thoughts. Love, Claudia
When you speak, it's music to my ears.
    Always listen carefully. Love, Charles

Ahh Multi, always so enthused by the little things...

    How about:

    "Happy Birthday, you're adopted!"
"My alcoholism = no nano for you"
"Merom will double your battery life"
    :D

Good, bad, right or wrong, Apple is not going to release any new hardware until it rolls out its "cloud." And after it flips the switch on the cloud, there will be a month or two or three of integrating the cloud into existing hardware before they roll out anything new.

No iPhone until late fall at earliest. Probably not until next year.

Greetings all. I saw this YouTube video the other day at my friends house and I cant seem to find it again. Nevermind the actual video, it was what I saw that I thought was pretty neat. The iPad was clearly jailbroken and had what looked like a realtime weather wallpaper. It was pretty cool and I wanted to check it out. Do you know what this was?

Can you be more specific? What do you mean by the word "slight"? Old iPods have a 1-2- second gap between tracks. Is it less than a second?

The gap is very slight and doesn't seem to be consistant. When skipping ahead to the next song in the playlist, there's about a 1/10th of a second pause. When allowing one track to play straight through to the next, it seems the gap is less than half of that to almost none, but like I said it seems to vary. There's been a couple times where I could swear there was no gap or pause, but most of the time it's perceptable in some way. For albums where a musical selection spans more than one track, I would probably link them together into one audio file/track before importing to iTunes.

I'll play with it some more though. I haven't had that much time to spend with it just yet after it took over 2 hours to fully charge and I just dumped a couple albums to it quickly to take it to the gym for a test run. Preliminary results are very positive. The size is great... The included earbuds are nothing special and their cord is a little on the short side, which may be good or bad depending on how you want to use it.

Did you make sure "repeat" is off? That would make it play the same song, over...and over...and over.

Thank you, Apple, for weeding out the companies whose business model depends on selling my information to junk-mailers.

This is the kind of 'crazy-Steve-Jobs-control' I can live with.

So because you don't like Financial Times it's okay for everyone that they are holding out iPad subscriptions. This is exactly what's wrong with you Apple fanboys.

You should be penalizing Apple for allowing this to happen. but instead you jump for joy.

I saw a guest, Matthew Alexander, on the Ed [Schultz] Show talk about the ineffectiveness of enhanced interrogation (torture).

Here's a link to the video. Skip ahead to 7:15 minutes in to see the interview.

Please take a few minutes to view it and let me know what you think.

interesting, he notes that the department of defense compiled stats that show that mistreatment of muslim prisoners was the #1 most effective recruiting tool for al Qaeda

I'm lovin it, but no space invaders :(

Well that sucks. Between Space Invaders and Astroides those are my two favorite Atari games... Now if we could just get some of the Activision games ported over! Oh.......the memories.

Some games I would like to see now that we are seeing stuff like this pop up in the app store:

    Joust
    Gauntlet
    Pitfall
    Defender
    Tecmo Bowl
    Star Wars (wire frame version)
    Afterburner

What kind of BMW do you recommend for a young bachelor business guy in a popular downtown location? I was thinking about the 3 series.
There are a lot of 3-series around. Spice it up a bit, and get something a little more unique...

Was moved to get back into DC recently after a long absence. Not adding anything too significant, but I still like contributing. (note that only the first two are actually mine, the rest I just have access to)

-MBP 13" 2.53 C2D (my main computer, gets used for lots of other things including video work so it's not exactly a rapid contributor right now)

-AMD X2 64 4600+ [2.4] (my 6 year old pc in a Shuttle chassis, haven't gotten around to building a new one yet, only has a 7900 series gpu so no gpu folding unfortunately)

-i7 iMac (the quad core sleeper)

    -base i3 iMac

I also have access to two 2.0 C2D MacBooks but they probably aren't worth utilizing because of their sporadic use patterns combined with their relatively low speed.

I also have a PS3 which I would use if it was possible for it to fold in the background while playing games, watching movies, etc. But apparently that's not possible.

As far as a new PC goes, I'm torn between spending money on the PC or [more money] on a new 15" MBP whenever the next gen comes out.

Also I feel like I came up with a rather ingenious idea for keeping track of all of the computers' progress (from anywhere). I used a combination InCrease and Dropbox. All of the computers have Dropbox installed on them, and each computer except for the main one has a separate folder all of its own in the Dropbox folder where F@H lives for that machine. These folders are then added to InCrease for monitoring. That way whenever the log file or queue file or whatever is updated, it's immediately synced to the main computer and shows up in InCrease. That way even if I'm traveling and I want to check and see what the boxen are doing at home, I can. And it's all seamless. I'm actually pretty proud of myself for having the idea haha :)

nice. hey as long as you have permission to fold on those iMacs, we could use the points. the macbooks might not be worth it, depending on what they are used for.

as far as a PC vs mbp, that's up to you. but those new intel processors sure do seem nice. what kind of pc did you have in mind for building?

not a bad idea for keeping track of folding

On the contrary, resizeable textareas are part of the CSS3 standard; Safari 3.0 will simply be the first mainstream browser to implement it. Once you try it, I promise you will not want to go back. It's really a non-issue, and I'm surprised anybody's complaining about it to the point they would disable this end-user feature using JavaScript. I'll just disable JavaScript on your site, then, buddy.

The CSS3 resizer property is fine and good because you can set resizer:none to a form element if you want to. As a side note, resizer applies to all elements, including html, meaning a site could prevent you from resizing the browser window. That has the potential to be very annoying if abused, as I'm sure it will be. Right now, I don't think any of the main 5 or 6 browsers support this propery for any element.

What worries me is if Safari is implementing this feature using built-in DOM functions instead of just supporting the CSS3 property. This is a possibility to me. They've got quite a ways to go in terms of the standard right now.
