I know this does not have much to do with anything in this thread. I have heard Gates owns a some shares of Apple and was wondering how many or what percentage he owns. I have googled, ask jeeves, yahoo and searched this website for 45 minutes for the answer with no luck and thought you all in this thread could shed some light. Thanks for reading.

When you think about it, the PSP could (perhaps should) have been the coolest thing since sliced bread with all its features and even movies and Sony's music service tailor-made for it. So what happened? Sony's atrocious proprietary scheme has made it a shell of what it could have been. I have a feeling MS hasn't learned any lessons since the "Works for Sure" campaign became something of a running joke.
Nintendo could have done the same thing with the DS Lite. There are addons for web, music, and video for this device and the battery life would still be on par with iPods...They, probably wisely, decided to keep the price of their device down and provide these features as accessories. Not everyone needs their portable device to do everything but the iPod, PSP, and DS Lite all have the potential for being brilliant convergence devices. Microsoft's talents in this area are still untested. The cellular companies would like their phones to be ultimate convergence devices but the are too greedy (at least in America) for their own good and most of the devices come off as buggy and overpriced...It is interesting, however, that Microsoft is willing to put their Xbox brand (which is pretty well accepted) in the untested market...

I dont know of any wireless phone that could support real 4G speeds. Besides on a mobile device, do I really need more than 20mb down, 5 up? Thats already faster than my cable modem lol.
I think Verizon 4G is useful at times. YouTube videos load quick on it, and the upload speed is 5x as fast as my cable modem speed :P. My Verizon 4G speed is about 15 down, 35 up. When YouTube videos stop and freeze while loading and you have to wait, you somewhat wish you had the 4G speed.

I think HTC needs to find a drawing board and a good one cause all their recent phones have looked almost the same.
Apple must be worried, I know. :rolleyes:
The HTC designs are all very good and made well. At the end of the day its hard to make phones look different. They are basically a large screen now. Lets just hope apple fix their breakable glass designs lol.

As a typical consumer, same as a prosumer, or pro -- speed. For example, backing up your iDevice, importing big megapixel photos and HD videos will be a whole lot quicker.
It will also make connections easier as TB can handled video, audio, and data in the same cable.
When is that going to happen?
I am not against Thunderbolt; not at all. I would love to have that kind of features in my iMac and a new Macbook Air if possible.
But when are we going to see those devices which take full advantage of Thunderbolt/LightPeak ports.
For eg,
- would it be possible to backup and sync full 64GB full iPad in 20s?
At the moment, NO.
- would it be possible to backup a whole TB of harddrive on an iMac in < 15 min?
At the moment, NO.
The question is:
For a consumer/pro-sumer, is Thunderbolt redundant for now? Will it take another generation of macbook pro's to generate pro-consumer Tunderbolt supported products?

Does anyone know where to find the specs for the iMac that will list whether or not the new models have SATA III connections internally? Not interested if they didn't upgrade to 6gbps. (SATA II is 3gbps).
If SATA III, then I'll order with just 2TB and add a Vertex 3 SSD later, but if they're still SATA II, then may be a deal buster.

I know when lion beta was first released it would lag and freeze a lot! also it was very unstable, 80% of the apps would crash constantly.

A lot of people nowadays only have laptops. I could understand if you have a desktop that you want to come on all the time or is on 24/7.
I guess a laptop WOULD be different in that you take it with you when you leave the house, so what you are saying makes sense. I didn't think of that.
But again, the desktop is not really "on" 24/7 - mostly it's in sleep mode, or completely off when I'm in sleep mode. :D

Numbers can say anything when there's no common sense behind it.

Any excuse to drink chocolate milk is a good one.

yes its true for running things like parallels, Boot Camp however is just fine with all editions of Vista, afaik

Would only make sense when combining Mac App Store and iOS App Store someway while keeping the syncing of the iOS devices in iTunes.
Or just do away with iTunes entirely and choose which available (i.e. purchased) apps you want to install directly in App Store on the device. Let any backups be cloud or Time Machine based.

Do we think all the intel sandy bridge processors be available? I'm looking for this screamer inside my new iMac: Intel Core i7-2600K Sandy Bridge 3.4GHz.
Matte screen would be a nice option, even if we have to pay for it. Two Thunderbolt ports please (even though they can be daisy chained, isn't there some latency?)
