If this is from their website, what is their issue with letting users opt-out in their iPad app?
If you have doubts that this from their website why don't you check (two clicks away from ft.com)?
It is about two things:
(a) Knowing their demographics
(b) Being able to communicate directly with their customers, even if is only about new features or special offers (there are two checkboxes, people might agree to first one but not the second one, Apple with its great simplicity won't allow such differentiated options)

NYC - 23rd Street and Madison store (near Madison Square Park) - I went in at 10:00 AM and they were sold out. The manager said they received 5 iPhones.

Also, while I agree that the deficit needs to be dealt with, I'm concerned that a breakneck reaction will cause more harm than it's worth. If your check oil light comes on, you don't immediately slam on the breaks and abandon the car in the weeds. Rather, you calmly slow down, pull over, access the fluids, and make new decisions.

People who pirate movies wouldn't have bought the movie in the first place. Adding usage restrictions only hurts the customers who bought the movie. If the studios are worried people will transfer movies to their friend's iPods, then they probably have their heads in the sand regarding the swapping of DVDs.
Still, the concept of limiting consumers' rights is the issue at hand.

"Aliens vs Predator Requiem" was edited on Final Cut. But that movie was terrible. Maybe it was Final Cut�s fault. ;)
But in all seriousness: I think a new Final Cut version is clearly overdue. FCS3 was more like a feature-patch for FCS2 than a new version. These days not having any kind of native AVCHD support really slows you down (and uses up a lot of storage space) particularly considering the DSLR-hype since 2009!
I remember a friend of mine who had bought a Panasonic HMC 150 (which is a professional camera) before FCS3 was released and was expecting native AVCHD in the next release. He has been waiting for this feature for almost two years now, while all the other big editing systems have had it for a while, as far as I know!
I'm into the casual AVCHD use like most consumers, and while my opinion doesn't count the same as most of the heavy editors commenting, Steve Jobs does tend to have a liking for "the river coming to us" as the best use of resources.
In that regard, and with Intel popping Sandy Bridge on the CES stage in January, AVC will get some much needed silicon on chip for encode/decode; the only codec to get that treatment. I doubt that this is anything but conincidence, as OpenCL / Grand Central are much more necessary for FCP's overhaul, but it strikes me that any Sandy Bridge processor in any Mac will by definition ease the AVCHD issues in all of Apple's video applications. Since AVCHD is in the core, one can imagine imagine that future Xeon processors should be quite suitable for AVCHD editing (it's my understanding that the AVCHD standard supports division of the frame into 4 chunks for multithreading).
I hope that this thread is still alive when FCP arrives and that further, there are commenters with with hands on use of the Panasonic AG-AF100 and Sony NEX video cameras supporting AVCHD and dslr lenses.

Unfortunately, facts do not matter to these people, as most IT departments are clueless about TCO.
The companies that switch to Mac either have smart IT people or have Mac / iPad using executives that push the IT departments to go Mac.

Yes, I can... and that would be awesome! It's nice that you can connect your iPod to the car stereo (if it has a line-in), but just another expensive gadget you need to carry around all the time and overall very expensive. Since years I am waiting for a car stereo that is capable of using SD or CF cards. MP3 playback from CDs is already no issue anymore since years. When the next logical step is finally coming?

Ok, I saw this here once. It was a .css file, that when added to safari through some preference it blocked all those page embeded ads. What was it? I know of Pith Helmet, but I don't feel like installing something, I just want that file!

Android and the fact at least in my area is that Verizon is going LTE, Apple's not putting out an LTE model till next year. Also with Verizon in our area there too busy dealing with FiOS which has been a disaster and upgrading there network.
With that said I have more confidence in Verizon bringing on faster speeds that AT&T.

now i have 4*1 giga of ram i recently got 2*4 giga extra to upgrade .

I always enjoy watching the keynotes; Steve is an engaging speaker, and did a great demo for the new iPhone. I was waffling between the 'good' and 'missing something' choice on the poll, since I really wanted to find out more about stuff I could actually buy (Airport Express, iWork, etc.), but they Keynote was good for what it concentrated on. Ultimately, it just needs to be an exercise in patience, as I have good feelings about what 2007 will ultimately bring. And since I'm locked in to another year of T-Mobile, I won't even start to consider an iPhone until 08 (although that won't stop me from going in to play with one sometime this summer! :D ).
