As long as Apple is using the time wisely to design a better iPhone, then I don't mind either.
In the mean time, I can't wait to dump my iPhone 4.
It's the most disappointing Apple product I've ever owned. If it could make and receive calls as well as the other AT&T phones I currently use, then I wouldn't be in such a rush to dump it.
And NO IT'a NOT AT&T!
Nor am I sticking up for them, or advocating, as I use both AT&T and Verizon. But the fact is, if it was them, my HTC Inspire and others would suffer the same poor call quality as the iPhone.
And NO IT's NOT JUST THE ANTENNA.. It's a combination of things which have prevented it from being a decent phone.
That said, the rest of it (other than the tiny 3.5" display) I really like!
So come on Apple, let's see you get your act together and do what I KNOW you can do, build a really outstanding smartphone.
I haven't lost faith, I'm ready, cash in hand.

On my iPhone 4, the animations are very choppy. For example when I tap an app, it doesn't "zoom" in...it just freezes for a second then the app appears. Not jailbroken, and it does this even after a restore.
Hopefully this update will fix it...it's been going on for a while now.
I second this issue. This problem only became a problem following an upgrade; my brand new iP4 ran like a champ! :(

Back in the 90s, auto magazines in the US criticized the Jetta for being too small (similar criticisms were leveled at the underrated Mondeo sold here as the Contour). I always like the in-between size of the Jetta, but apparently most Americans prefer larger cars.
I would like to think I'm wrong, but most Americans seem to correlate size and quality, i.e. bigger cars are better. People can't understand why anyone would buy a smaller car when a bigger one could be had at the same price.
I have owned three "small" cars. A 1988 Ford Tempo, a 1990 Geo Storm, and a 1995 Ford Probe. All three were solid cars. However I have not bought a small car in many years for one reason. It's not that "big" cars are better because they're big. It's because generally speaking, the gas mileage on most smaller cars isn't better than those of standard sedans. In some cases it's worse. Case in point: Nissan Versa vs. Nissan Altima 2.5SL. The Altima destroys the Versa in real world mileage. Plus you get the added room and comfort and features. The price is only slightly higher in terms of monthly payments.

I've probably got the wrong end of the stick as usual, but I use the web access for iDisk that is already there - I haven't downloaded any applications at all for my work Windows laptop. Is this what you meant, or was there something else on top of this?Well kind of, but that's very limited. It doesn't support drag and drop, icon or column views, file previews, searching, .zip archiving and unarchiving, etc. In other words, all the goodies you get in a Finder window (including iDisk Finder windows). Using AJAX technologies, most of that should be possible, as they are doing for the Mail application. And as I said, making folders individually password-protectable (separate passwords, unlike now where it's one for the whole disk) is a priority for me.

when using Safari on my iPad 2, whenever i click on a link middle page down and then hit the back button, instead of going back to the middle part of the page i came from, it goes all the way the top of the web page. this is so annoying. is there a trick to solve this? thanks.

Any update MUST have the ability to store maps on the device and not stream them from the internet. Data rates are so massively high in other countries that I usually keep data off, or if I have the international plan, will not waste my precious MB's on maps unless I have to.
I could see the reason for keeping it off originally, when capacities were 4 GB and 8 GB. However, with the iPhone 5 having most likely 64 GB of space, the time is here to have the option to store maps locally.

So what do you have against teachers making more? If teachers made more competitive salaries, there would be more competition for teaching jobs, thus leading to better quality teachers, ultimately resulting in better education.
I'd rather spend an extra $100/yr for better teachers rather than helping to pay for Tom Cruise's 39 estates.

Hey all. I was screwing with iTunes4 tonight and I managed to delete all my playlists. They're still on my iPod (as is the whole iTunes library). Is there a program out there that will allow me to download my playlists from the iPod to iTunes? It will save me several hours of work if I can do that.
