To quote someone else in this thread "show me proof", in terms of actual statements given under duress and the results of that information. Until you or I see that we are both really just hand-waving...
indeed, but if those in favor of EI can't actually show some support for the claim that it's actually useful, then it seems to me the argument in favor is reduced to one that's basically an emotional response. That doesn't seem to me to be enough to justify using EI
....As for the guy in the video, he's really the only one out there that I have seen that is so vocal about the ineffectiveness of E.I.....
I don't think that's true at all. During the Bush years there were quite a number of people from the intelligence community that said the same thing. There comments were the usual basis for responses to "show me proof" to refute the idea that EI is useful

Thisthere are women who get sexually assaulted regardless of what they're wearing.
and thisit's women (the prey) who first need to stop dressing provocatively and more with class, and then men (the predator) will stop the sexual assaults.
don't seem to add up.

Thanks for the tips. Still, Lightscribe or Labelflash or equivalent would be a nice feature, especially in a notebook computer. If you're out and about with your notebook and you want to burn a disc, it'd be convenient to be able to just burn a few words on to the disc rather than bothering with printers, inks, labels, markers, etc.
Seems like a lot of hassle to avoid using a Sharpie...
[Edit: guess I'm not the only one thinking this way....]

Are you frickin kidding? Sharia law IS stupid extremist ideology. That's the only way to describe it. Maybe you should read some more.
OK, I read some more. Some parts of Shari'a (mostly the fard) are a bit goofy or non-sensical, but for the most part, I am failing to see "stupid extremism". One must consider the fact that the concept itself is broad and moderated by sectarian differences: to say Shari'a is "this" or is "that" may fail depending on which interpretation is used, even who is interpreting it. Ultimately, the problems with Shari'a rest not with the code itself as much as with the people in charge of interpreting it. In the west, even secular code gets interpreted badly sometimes (or often), allow frothing nutbags to be in charge, expect to be outraged.

Here's a piece done by Fortune posted just a few minutes ago referring to the TJ Maxx thing:
http://tech.fortune.cnn.com/2010/11/19/how-to-get-on-steve-jobs-naughty-list/
I seriously doubt the figure of "80 iPads total" aquired by TJ Maxx that is speculated in the article, but who knows.

Apple is widely expected to introduce a new iPhone later this year. That new iPhone will likely be a global device (http://www.macrumors.com/2011/04/21/verizon-cfo-reveals-next-iphone-to-be-a-global-device), incorporating both CDMA and GSM technologies into a single design.
I'm starting to think the next iPhone will be the albatross of iPhones. The A5 chip is BIG.... and I hope the Qualcomm chip is just as small and efficient as the existing 3G chip (I'm assuming it won't be any better?), since this whole "world phone" really means nothing to anyone except Verizon customers (who will be able to roam to GSM).
I'm due for an upgrade (2 year cycle), but my wife on the matching 2 year cycle seems to be getting the better deal :-/
Still, rumours are rumours. We'll see what we see. I'm enjoying my iPad2 :)

IMO you don't leave a massively successful company after 22 years without a reason unless your retiring.
I'm guessing that you're not someone (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Allen)who's been in that position (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Gates), though. How does your opinion account for those guys?

I was wondering whether these issues only apply to people who JB their phones? Or perhaps there is some particular app that they all have installed doesn't agree with 4.3.1.
I too have no problems with 4.3.1
Open Safari on iPad.
Click a youtube link and watch vid.
Go back to Safari.
What do you get?

This keynote was a huge letdown for me. Sure I think the iPhone looks amazing and it has me considering a switch to Cingular to get one.
When I saw that the keynote was going to be 2 hours this time, I was super stoked. I just knew it was going to be jam-packed with new products, speed bumps on the computer lines, demos of leopard and iLife, etc. he spent 2 WHOLE HOURS talking about 2 products. I simply can't believe that. I know Steve wants to pimp out the iPhone as much as possible, but come on. Where was the "one more thing", etc? Sure there were really 3 things with the airport basestation being thrown in there without an announcement, but NOTHING that was discussed is available for immediate shipping.
I've been anticipating this for months since the announcement of quad core processors in hopes of getting an 8 core Mac Pro on order today. I've been saving up and keeping my credit clear just for that purchase and I've been extremely disappointed.
My only hope now is that since the quad cores are being released this week that they'll do a refresh soon down the line.

I wanted to be bad, I would point out that VW seems to be betting a lot money that what Americans want in a car is bigger and cheaper (in both senses of the word)...
But that might be considered baiting an easy target....

I think all of the talking points have already been fleshed out. Bottom line is that Mac's simply are not an enterprise solution.
* Can you integrate them into an enterprise network?
Sure. I can also plug my home router into the network. I'm sure it'd work fine.
* Can the be your standard?
Not unless you're a small corp that doesn't use any real business applications. Then again, I wouldn't consider that to be 'Enterprise IT'.
* Group policy is only needed because Windows machines are insecure.
Can you honestly believe this if you actually have even the slightest amount of experience in an enterprise IT environment? That's the most ignorant thing I've read all day.
* Applications are all going to be web-centric.
Sure, that's the current direction, and from an IT perspective, makes the most sense. That's not a selling point for Macs though, that's a selling point for thin clients. If you want to talk TCO and use web-based applications as the justification, then you have to compare a Mac to a thin client..... and well, the results are obvious.

Saft Demo
Anyone know how to remove Saft 7.5.5 Demo from Safari?
Thanks
If you haven't found the answer to your question here is what I did.
I found the answer on:
http://haoli.dnsalias.com/Saft/Installation/index.html
It recomends
Removal
Run Saft Installer and choose uninstall, or Move Saft in /Library/InputManagers to Trash.
I ran the Saft installer but did not get the choice to uninstall so I moved
/Library/InputManagers to Trash and that did the trick.

after unintentionally disconnecting a firewire HD without unmounting, I can no longer see the disk on my desktop & finder.
mount or disk utility however does see it and tells me nothing is wrong.
I can even search it and open files on it.
But i still need to physically see it for running an classic app.
Anyone familiar with this?
