Although the blatant party line vote may have been a little too telling, I still think it was a genuine attempt to save a fellow wolf.

I wonder what battery life will be like.

Also, how many people downloaded it just so they could watch porn?

Many Porn sites are smart enough to provide HTML5 alternative.

It looks like Samsung is supplying the SSD in the MBA.

Apple shipping newer, faster SSDs in latest MacBook Airs
by Chris Foresman | Last updated 3 days ago

Apple launched revised MacBook Air models in the fall of 2010 by going SSD-only with speedy, but custom, small outline SSD modules made by Toshiba. However, some users are now reporting that the most recent MacBook Airs are using what appears to be a Samsung-made module, which is capable of 20-25 percent faster read and write speeds.
According to testing by AnandTech, an SSD that carries the model name SM128C turned in a read speed of 261.1 MBps and a write speed of 209.6 MBps. Those speeds are 24 percent and 19 percent faster, respectively, compared to the Toshiba-made SSDs (model TS128C) that originally shipped in the MacBook Air.
While the manufacturer hasn't been confirmed yetApple has not responded to our request for commentAnandTech believes the "SM" in the model name refers to Samsung. The site noted that the tested speed ratings are comparable to other SSD drives built by Samsung.
We felt that the 11" MacBook Air was very responsive with its equipped SSD module in our review last fall, but a little extra performance never hurts. For now, though, there is no way to guarantee which SSD module you'll get when buying a MacBook Air, and neither Samsung nor Toshiba appear to be offering their modules to consumers. Well-known Mac upgrade source Other World Computing offers the only known replacement SSD modules for the MacBook Air, which are rated at similar performance levels as the purported Samsung modules. Our full review of that upgrade option is coming soon.

    I can read Wiki too...

GPL is a license. GNU is a foundation. I corrected as to the licensing terminology..

Per your 12 years, trump - my 25...

By the way - openstep is an evolution of nextstep when next went "open source". it may of been put of the GNU license, but it wasnt there back in 1984 when it all started... Per Saiman, If you know WHY he left MIT in the first place (after all you might want to read the whole wiki), youd know what was going through his mind in the creation of GNU.

Lastly, the Minix kernel came from Posix. So the path Posix->Minix->Linux is valid.

Yes, white is beautiful, but I think it has to come with, at least, a small upgrade to make up for the late arrival. Perhaps 1GB of RAM or a bump in processor speed. Ill consider it then, if its just a white iPhone 4 then I think Ill wait for iPhone 5... although it looks sexy as hell in white.

Anyone actually planning on buying this? Especially with a refresh right around the corner?

Have you been reading the recent rumors regarding the next iPhone release? That's the whole point of releasing the white iPhone 4 now, IMO. It's tying people over until iPhone 5, which will almost definitely not see the light of day at WWDC.

I haven't read all the messages, but I'm wondering....
How many of you that have been waiting and whining actually took the plunge this morning? I can say for a fact that I did. Just curious to see how many people are still saying, "...But, the MBP still lacks a male genitalia insert port."
Cynical, you say? Yes, I've been on these forums long enough to see people constantly complain for the next best thing, even on new release days.

    Anyway, here's my order again (because I'm ***** excited) :D :

MacBook Pro 15-inch Glossy Widescreen Display
    2GB 667 DDR2 SDRAM - 2x1GB
    2.33GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    Apple USB Modem
    Backlit Keyboard/Mac OS - U.S. English
    160GB Serial ATA Drive @ 5400 rpm
    Accessory Kit
    SuperDrive 6x (DVD+R DL/DVDRW/CD-RW)

I'm taking the plunge as well! Who needs a life savings anyway?

That is really, really ugly. Like, really ugly. I cannot imagine having that brown turd interface open on my second monitor all day... blargh!

I like it, it looks user friendly. Maybe they will allow you to change the color?

I just bought myself 2 early Christmas gifts, a Wacom (first real graphics tablet I've had) and an iPod Touch (first iOS device I've ever had!).

Figured I could do with both for work and could do with the Wacom to draw out cards for this year.

But for the day itself I know I'm getting the X-Files boxset and a couple of rare PSP games.

Everyone else is getting the same - DVDs and games.

A late summer release could explain why Apple wasn't so worried about releasing a Verizon iPhone in Feb (Jan announce) because it meant they would at least have 6-7 months before a new iPhone came out.

Of course I do find it funny how people complain about a new iPhone coming out because they want the newest and latest but never a new Android.

I'd be surprised if this comes true. T-Mobile's network is not exactly up to par with AT&T and Verizon.
Yeah, T-Mobile needs to work harder if they want their network to drop calls as much as AT&T.

I lost a bigadv unit too. I think they will credit it back but it will take time.

i hope they do. we'll see.

in the meantime, i'm thinking about putting a few video cards in my 2006 mac pro to fold with - since it's only getting like 3500 ppd running the smp client. i know i'll have to run windows to do the GPU2 client for now, but it might be worth it.

does anyone know if this (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814133304) card will work? and could i put 2 or 3 or 4 in there?

.......I still can't make, receive, send or get text messages or mail during any sporting event in my city. It was the same when it first came out and it is the same last week at the game.

And it will always be that way unless the FCC allows more frequencies to be used for cell transmission. Data is breaking the system. A cell tower can only handle 50-300 'calls' at any given time due to frequency limitations (you can only time multiplex so much...). Data is even more of a bandwidth hog, harder to time multiplex w/o slowing down transmission drastically. People also use data much more often than voice now (especially the iPhone). When you have 10,000 people packed into a small area for an event what more can you expect? The area is probably covered by one tower (or if you're lucky a few small cell sites in the venue).

Unfortunately extending and increasing capacity of cell service isn't as simple as setting up a wireless router. Takes a bit more work and planning than that. It's also hard in the US due to FCC regulations/state regulations/city regulations and high public opposition to new cell towers.

So the iPhone went from being pummeled by Android to now just being badly beaten.

    That is Awesome.

Ha, ha . . . As if I should be embarrassed about losing a bar fight against 20 people.

Name any single Android phone model that has out-sold the iPhone 4.

    Apple's headline: "...Seatbelts Sold Separately."
    Bad marketing, seatbelts suggests crashing.
