There have been unrelated complaints about battery life since 4.3 came out, and for the entire existence of the Verizon version. Maybe they've finally addressed that.

Bear in mind, there is nothing inherently bad in a company having a monopoly, not even Microsoft. What's bad (and illegal) is when a company in such a position abuses its monopolistic power. I have to remind MS defenders of this fact as many of them don't seem to grasp the nuance here. MS wasn't in trouble for being a monopoly (rightly so--being one is not illegal.) MS was in trouble for abusing that power.
Speaking of MS defenders, is it my imagination or are there an awful lot of Macrumors newbies on the board now who seem to bash Apple pretty quickly and at every turn? What's that all about?

Bill took that concept when he left Apple and started Microsoft, then teamed up with IBM that was looking for a new OS to use with their PC's. Which they would later sell to corporate America, the government, and the military. Also with IBM clones, Windows PC's would become affordable for the average person needing a computer. Hence the reason there are more PC users than Mac users, but that is starting to change as Windows becomes less secure and more bloated.

And people kept telling me that OSX and iOS weren't going to merge in any meaningful manner for years ahead, if ever. Yeah right. I'd bet the one after this has them nearly fully merged and I mean towards iOS for the most part. OSX will be dumbed down to the lowest common brain cell and you won't be able to get free/open software anymore. It'll have to come through the App Store or not at all. Wait and see. That is the point I'll be moving on.Credit card numbers are much more important.

Squarely wrong. Even "The Inquirer" has talked about the vastly superior multitasking AND SMP features of OS X Leopard, as compared to what Vista seems to offer. Damn, even today any version of Windows crawls far behind OS X in that.

So, to me a question about firearms in the home seems perfectly within the scope of evaluating risks, and more probably, helping to provide information for parents.

I disagree, in the case of a farm, knowing this can help the doctor to ask about exposure to organophosphates or ringworm. The more information has, generally, the better the doctor's ability to assess care.
Doctors shouldn't ask these questions to be busybodies, but to make good decisions and provide care.

It's basically the ultimate "access" machine. Just yesterday I used my phone as a dictionary, store, terminal to enterprise software, link to external contact database. (also made some phone calls) iPad would be similar. Lookup, lookup, lookup. Web browsing is covered under that, too.
One thing the iPad brings that any phone cannot is a level of professionalism. In the companies I deal with, using your phone during a meeting looks questionable, like you're fooling around. Using a tablet or laptop to do the exact same lookup of whatever would be ok. It's a little silly, but that's the vibe I get currently.
This is not to say everyone has use for it. I'm happy with the phone, I'm not in that many meetings.You might as well consider me as someone that does not own a cellphone.

I would hope for a mid range "Cube like" computer only because I'm looking to upgrade soon.
That would be almost nice to have a cube, sort of what I was thinking of except have desktop or xeons instead it could be a desktop xeon (lga775) for all I care just give us the option for a desktop/server power dual and quad core, along with 2-4 (pref 4) ram slots, pci E graphics and a few hdd bays and get it out the door for 999 or less

The main thing is... (For me anyway) is the ability to burn a film to DVD....
It'll be hard to make an impulse purchase on a new film, that I can only watch on my Mac, or, until I spend a few hundred quid buying a new iPod or wireless streaming gizmo for my telly... (Something I'd prefer not to do)
Can we please burn them so we can watch films on normal DVD players!

The NRA. I am a member, have been a member for over 20 years and am proud that there is an organization that exists to fight for my right to own firearms. I don't agree with them 100% of the time, and at times have been disappointed in them, but am glad they exist.
Also, 99.9% of the doctors I have been to ask questions that are pertinent ONLY to the reason I am there for a visit.
