Both the employer and the Attorney are tight lipped on my first I-140. Is there a way to take help of some other Attorney and ask them to get the details regarding my first I-140?
If you have the receipt number for the I140, you can check the status. But your employer actually hold all the rights for I140 and they can chose to not provide any information to you about 140.
If you are willing to spend some money I would suggest Sheela murthy if your case is complicated.

That's NOT right. AC-21 Yates Memo states that:
As long as your I-140 is not revoked and your I-485 is NOT adjudicated with in 6 months, you are covered by AC-21 portability law. That means you can change jobs before six months (with or without EAD) and still continue with you GC process.
The chances of I-485 being adjudicated in six month is quite low. Stick to your current job for 2 months, remain on payroll for few months by forgoing PTO/Severance. That would give you 3-4 months. Then change your job with H1B and let your I-140/I-485 continue as it is. Send AC-21 letter at the end of 5th month. I think you should stick to your current employer.

Company B can file an H1 for me but since I have already spent 5 years in USA I just have about an year left out of the total 6 years. So that's an issue.

So to my knowledge company B can revoke my L1A and I can go back to H1B without going through the 2009 quota and waiting till Oct2009. And in this way join company B. Is my understanding correct? But in this case my L2-EAD spouse will loose her job.

Has any one here changed their maiden name or their spouses maiden name in the US? I heard that it takes 1 week if one hands over passport and documents in person. I plan to go to SFO CGi to get this done before filing I-485 on Jul 1st.
I recently got married and did not have time in India to change the name.
Any experiences/advise is appreciated. My apologies if this is already discussed in previous threads.

I am a physician MD currently doing IM residency on H1B. i have a job to start from oct 2007. since PDS for india are now current, i would like to know if my employer can file PERM for a prospective employee now in june. my univerdity lawyer is not clear or rather not willing to file.

Hey did you get the receipt notices(485/ead/aos) mailed to you directly from USCIS or it went to your attorney?
EAD and AP receipt notices are mailed to me. I-485 receipt notices are mailed to me. I don't remember receiving I140 receipt notice

Good, so I'm not the only one who feels that Murthy is dominated by uncivilized conversations. IV came as such a breath of fresh air because everyone here is polite and agree to disagree in a civil manner.
BTW is that famous member "J***f"....lol. He's been getting bashed at Murthy a bit too lately. He's like a schoolyard bully who just enjoys pouncing on people and giving unnecessary gyan.

Wow, I just tried the "yanks are coming" one. What the heck is that? Did you actually read all of that? I feel ashamed of myself when you say that. Maybe I am too busy or have very little patience. I am saying this from personal experience. When I was offered a job, I had to supply all these documents and go through this background check process which took 1 month to clear. My friends on H1-B,in other companies also had to go through same process.
My colleagues,who are US-Citizens and GC holders didn't have to comply with any of it.
Even in India,everyone has to supply a copy of their educational qualifications.So,it seemed pretty odd to me that why are companies accepting things at face value for Citizens and GC's.Everybody can lie.

http://www.lspace.org/books/reading-order-guides/ has a map over which books makes sense to start with. The first two in the series ("The Colour of Magic" and "The Light Fantastic") might be a tad compact at first read (maybe just me, but I've had friends tell me this as well, so...).
I originally wanted to play the computer game, but felt I had to read the books first... I never got around to actually playing the games though. (I tried "Discworld Noir" for a while, but some of its bugs seriously interfered with the gameplay)
"Mort" I believe contains the reference to "Duck Man"...

Since on 2nd July they said they will reject the AOS application, what if they would have done some rejection during that time, and by the time July filers get their application back, it is after 17th of August. In that circumstance, can you send the AOS application back arguing USCIS's mistake and ask them to take it back after 08/17 and would they take it back politely or reject it again.
